JULY 24 -- annual
self-driving ³invasive weed tour² to highlight Invasive Weed Awareness
Week. Tour will begins at the Ag Center in Lakeport (883 Lakeport
Blvd) at 8:45AM, with registration starting at 8:15AM, proceed
clockwise around the lake and end in Lakeside Park for a (free)
lunch. Limited passenger van seating is available: call Kristi
at 263 0217 by July 22 to reserve van space.
JULY 26 -- interactive
slide program "Joy of Birding: fascinating birds of Lake
County" by Clear Lake State Park docent Leona Butts at the
CLSP Visitor Center, 5300 Soda Bay Rd: no entrance fee for participants.
JULY 29, 3-6PM
-- on-site docent training at Anderson Marsh State Historic Park,
conducted by Ranger Ryen Goering. Combined with the "orientation"
session (July 8 at AM or July 12 at CLSP), this training will
enable participants to qualify as official volunteer/docents.

AUGUST 2, 5:30PM
-- McLaughlin Reserve Lecture, "Fire Ecology of California's
Coast Ranges'" presented by Dr. Jon Keeley of the USGS and
UCLA. Many of California's plant communities are said to be "fire
dependent" -- but what does this really mean? Free, but reservations

AUGUST
5, 10:15AM -- Board of Supervisors discusses the proposed purchase
of new parkland on the top of Mt Konocti, along with communications
tower facilities on the site. The Board is expected to approve
an option to purchase at this meeting: please take a moment
to hear the latest details about this exciting proposal and
to demonstrate your support to the board.
AUGUST 5, 1:30PM
-- appeal of a cell tower approval on Harbin Springs Rd, board
of Supervisors chamber in the courthouse. Anyone who objects to
the proliferation of these ungainly and possibly dangerous structures
in pristine portions of Lake County is urged to attend.
AUGUST 9. 9AM
-- A moderate educational Sierra Club/Friends of Boggs Mountain
hike on various trails on Boggs. Meet at the covered kiosk in
the main parking area, a couple of miles north of Cobb on Hwy

AUGUST 11, 6-8PM
-- public meeting on the proposed Lake County Integrated Regional
Water Management Plan (IRWMP) at the Lakeport Yacht Club (15 Fifth
Street): help county government collaborate with water companies,
agencies, and other stakeholders to devise an integrated, localized,
cost efficient water plan with multiple benefits. To learn more,

19, 6PM -- first of several scheduled Board of Supervisors hearings
on Lake County's new General Plan. These meetings will provide
a final opportunity for citizen input on policies that have
been six years in the making and are expected to guide our growth
for the next 20 years: please try to attend and let your voice
be heard.
